Rebrand Resources & FAQs
Goodbye Glean, hello Genio!
Here you'll find resources to help you and your students through this transition.
Resources
These resources are split into 4 sections:
- Glean > Genio Notes - Transition information
- Communicating with your students
- Accessing the new note taking course
- Two actions we need you to take
If there is anything else we can do to support you, please email your Customer Success Manager (if you don't know who that is, email customersuccess@genio.co).
Glean > Genio Notes - Transition information
The first time your students log into Genio Notes, it may take up to an additional 2 minutes.
Your students have received the following instructions via email, and they will be guided through the process in the product - see the video on screen which shows the process.
Here's the process, step-by-step:
- Log in to Glean on desktop, while connected to the internet
- If your recordings are already synced to the cloud, you will be redirected straight to the new domain
- Log in again on the new domain (you will need to remember your password - it won’t be saved)
- Re-save your password
- Continue capturing your notes as normal!
If you have recordings saved to your local device (e.g. from using offline mode), it may take a little longer:
- Log in to Glean on desktop as usual, while connected to the internet
- Your files will automatically begin transferring to the new domain. This should take no more than 2 minutes to complete.
- You will be taken to the loading page. Please wait for your recordings to be automatically transferred.
- Once complete, click to be taken to the new domain.
- Log in again - and please note your log in details won’t be automatically saved!
- Continue capturing your notes as usual
If for any reason the transfer fails, rest assured you will be able to bypass the process, go back to capturing notes on the Glean domain, and try again at another time. Support will also be available at support@genio.co.
This process will only happen once, and then your students can continue using the app as you normally would, accessing it through the new domain.
The new domain will have a new look, but other than that - nothing about the note taking app is changing.

What have my students heard so far?
All Glean users have received email communications notifying them that Glean are rebranding effective 3rd June, however they won’t receive and email from us announcing the new name until 4th June.
Users have also been told that they will need to take some extra steps the first time they log in after the rebrand.
They have now received an email announcing Genio and sharing the additional steps again.
But don’t worry - we’ve got you covered with your comms too.
We’ve drafted an email that you can send to your students.
Copy the following text and send it to your students to explain the changes:
Hi [Student Name],
We're excited to share that Glean is becoming Genio, a new name that reflects their commitment to unlocking better learning for everyone.
For 18 years, they've been here to support your learning with tools like Glean. This change means they're expanding their support to include not just tools, but also courses to help you develop essential study skills and confidence.
Genio creates beautifully simple learning tools that boost knowledge, skills and confidence.
Don't worry, Glean (the app) is becoming Genio Notes, but it's still the same tool you know and love, with all the same features.
To access Genio Notes, log in to Glean as normal and follow the instructions in the app.
We're excited about this evolution and how it will help you in your learning journey!
Sincerely,
[Your Institution/Department]

The Confident Notetaker's Masterclass
The Confident Notetaker’s Masterclass is now available to all Genio Notes users.
Students will be able to access the course from within Genio Notes.
Simply log in to Genio Notes, and navigate to the menu. The course is linked within the drop down menu.
Alternatively, anyone with a Genio Notes account can access the course from:
courses.genio.co

2 actions we need you to take
You will receive information about these 2 actions via email on 5th June.
1. Ask IT to whitelist the domain genio.co
This will ensure that emails from Genio (including important product update, contract, and legal emails) get to their intended recipients.
2. Update supplier name from Glean to Genio
Although our trading name is going to change from Glean, our registered legal name has not changed. The primary legal entity and head of operations remains Sonocent Ltd in the UK. For all business conducted within North America, the transacting legal entity will continue to be our US subsidiary, Sonocent, LLC. There is no change to our legal structure, company registration, or bank details.

Rebrand FAQs
Still got questions? Email your Customer Success Manager. Still got questions? Email your Customer Success Manager. For 18 years, we've empowered learners with our trusted audio note-taking apps.
Our vision is for a world where everyone has the tools and confidence to expand what's possible through learning.
To better reflect this vision and our expanded offerings, we're evolving our brand and becoming Genio. We'll be the same people with the same purpose, just with a new name!
No, absolutely not! We’re the same people, the same team, with the same purpose - we're just changing our name.
Absolutely! For those working in Disability and Accessibility Services, we understand the desire to improve learner outcomes and provide students with the support they need to access their education. We are here to continuously innovate and provide learner solutions while empowering Disability Support offices to be ADA compliant and serve students' needs as efficiently and effectively as possible.
The Glean product will simply be getting a new name - Genio Notes. You and your students will still have access to the same beautifully simple note taking and study tool, with the same functionality and features learners love. Genio Notes remains suitable for accommodations, as it always has been.
The rebrand doesn’t change the products and services you currently access. You can still rely on us to provide Genio Notes to support your students’ learning, and also expect the same level of customer service and support to help you achieve your goals, whether that be providing effective accommodations or driving accessibility across campus.
Your current cost/subscription will remain the same, our rebrand does not impact pricing. The rebrand itself isn't a part of pricing decisions. However, as has always been the case, there will be ongoing reviews of our pricing which may result in increases due to inflation, changes in exchange rates between different currencies, and increased value that we have added to our product.
Although our trading name is going to change from Glean to Genio, our registered legal name has not changed. The primary legal entity and head of operations remains Sonocent Ltd (06127874) in the UK. For all business conducted within North America, the transacting legal entity will continue to be our US subsidiary, Sonocent, LLC. Therefore, while our public-facing name will changed from Glean, there is no change to our legal structure, company registration, or bank details.
All future communications, invoices (from us), and orders (to us) should reflect our new trading name, Genio. However, please be assured that any documents or communications using our previous name will still be valid during a transitional period.
No, existing contracts are not impacted given the legal entity itself is not changing. An updated customer contract, end user agreement and privacy notice will be launched to coincide with the rebrand, however we will only move across existing customers that have agreed to the standard contract terms. Customers that negotiated a bespoke contract will be moved to the new contract at renewal so as not to cause disruption. Brand new customers will be given the new contract from the first week of June onwards.
All Glean users have received communications on Thursday 22nd May that Glean is rebranding.
There is no action required for Glean users until the first time they log into the Glean note taking product after the rebrand.
The first time a user logs in on the web app after the rebrand, it may take an extra 2 minutes - that's all! Full details about this are higher up the page in the Resources section.
See above in the resources section titled 'Communicating with your students'.
We're still the same company within the accessibility market. We still care about the same things:
- Accessibility by design
- Ethical use of AI and tech
- and building on learning science principles.
Becoming Genio simply allows us to expand the types of products we offer and the kinds of students we work with.
We are building on our existing purpose. We envision a world where every person has the tools and confidence to expand what’s possible through learning. By evolving from Glean to Genio, we aim to expand our impact and unlock better learning for everyone.
Absolutely not! We are still as focused as ever on empowering Disability Support offices to serve students’ needs as efficiently and effectively as possible. And our full offering remains suitable for accommodations.
